The flag flying over the Forks Fire Hall took a beating in a recent storm and when Diane Cowles noticed the bottom stripe was ripped she thought to herself, "I would much rather see the flag sitting in my living room than flying in the breeze instead." So, on a recent Tuesday evening at the weekly fire department meeting Diane and her husband, Ivan, presented the department with a new American flag.
The flag was from Diane’s father, a Korean War Veteran, who died in November, and the flag already has gotten noticed. A Forks resident who lives near the fire hall called the Forum to say she had noticed that there was no flag for a few days and then was so happy to see a new flag in its place.
