New homes for the Holidays?

The Thoma Short Plat is transforming into a budding neighborhood just off Merchant Road. In recent weeks, two new homes have been added to the site, part of a project aimed at addressing the need for local housing.

“We hope to provide homes for local folks,” said Sig Thoma, who is spearheading the project. The two homes currently on-site are just the beginning, as Thoma shared plans to build several additional stick-built homes in the future.

One of the new homes is a cozy 1,280-square-foot, three-bedroom, two-bath property. The second, a larger 1,560-square-foot home with the same number of bedrooms and bathrooms. Thoma expects one of the new homes to go on the market in the coming week and the other within the next month. Both homes feature upgrades such as farmhouse sinks, elegant fixtures, and hardwood floors, ensuring a blend of comfort and style.

Thoma shared, “My wife Marie played a big role in shaping the style and design of the new homes.”

The properties will also be enhanced with improved landscaping.

The project was approved by the Forks City Planner in November 2023, the Short Plat consists of half-acre lots equipped with septic systems, city water services, and underground PUD electrical utilities. The application for the project was initially submitted in October 2023.

With the holiday season approaching, these homes may provide the perfect opportunity for families to settle into a new place to call their own.
