The Olympic Peninsula Resource Advisory Committee (RAC) will meet on Sept. 20, from 9 a.m. until about 5 p.m. at the Rainforest Arts Center at 35 North Forks Ave.
The RAC operates in compliance with the Federal Advisory Committee Act and is authorized under the Secure Rural Schools and Community Self-Determination Act of 2000.
The purpose of the Committee is to improve collaborative relationships and provide advice and recommendations to the Forest Service concerning projects and funding consistent with Title II of the Act.
The Olympic Peninsula RAC will review 23 proposals and recommend projects for funding. The RAC represents a wide variety of citizen interests, and members are residents of each of the peninsula counties. The Forest Supervisor will review the RAC recommendations for consistency with provisions of the law prior to funding approval.
The RAC meeting is open to the public. The agenda will include time for people to make oral statements of three minutes or less. Individuals wishing to make an oral statement must request in writing to be scheduled on the agenda by Sept. 18, 2017.
