Named “a prime figure in American music” by the Folk And Acoustic Music Exchange, Wates is the winner of more than 50 songwriting and performance awards.

Although he averages 120 live shows every year in venues throughout America, Canada, and Europe, he prefers smaller listening rooms where the audience is up close and the emphasis is on the music.
