Quillayute Valley Scholarship Auction Student representatives and board members were the program at the noon meeting of the Forks Chamber of Commerce at Blakeslee’s Bar and Grill last Wednesday.
Representing this years’ QVSA student organizers were Marshal Grant and Taegan Counsell. QVSA board members President Jerry Leppell, Vice President, JoMarie Miller and Secretary Cheri Dahlgren came to get the community psyched up for the 54th addition of this annual event.
Leppell said that about 1,500 items are usually auctioned and donations are needed. Senior class members have been organized in groups and are currently out seeking donations from area communities.
Last year the auction saw an all time record take of $130,000 in the two days. Leppell is looking to break that record!
He encouraged everyone to donate something. “Everyone has something they can donate, go look in your garage,” Leppell urged.
Not present at the meeting were board members Bill Brager, Edith Henry and Patti Holz and student representative Savanah Norbisrath. Norbisrath is currently attending running start at Peninsula College in Port Angeles.
The 54th-annual Quillayute Valley Scholarship Auction takes place March 17-18 at the Forks High School Commons.
All auction proceeds are awarded to the graduating class. The Class of 2018 would greatly appreciate donations of any kind. QVSA donations are tax-deductible.
Donations may be dropped off at the high school front office or picked up by arrangement. Please contact any of the three coordinators if you have any questions.
