The Quillayute Valley School District (QVSD) has successfully renewed its four-year, $6 million levy, ensuring continued funding for critical school programs and facility improvements through 2029. The levy will generate $1.51 million annually, with an estimated tax rate starting at $1.50 per $1,000 of assessed property value in 2026, decreasing to $1.13 by 2029.
Passage of the levy unlocks $20.5 million in Local Effort Assistance (LEA) funds for property-poor districts, as well as additional funding from state timber sales, which could bring in $21-$22 million over the next four years.
QVSD Superintendent Diana Reaume expressed gratitude for the community’s support, stating, “The support for our students and their learning experiences in our schools is evident by the votes. We are very grateful for the Forks community and overall turnout.”
Reaume shared, “The school board continues to look at minor and major maintenance repairs to ensure that all buildings stay warm, safe, and dry for our students, staff and community members.”
The levy will help fund essential facility projects, including:
Forks Elementary School roof and HVAC replacement
Spartan track resurfacing
Aux gym locker room remodel
Routine maintenance on gym floors
Hydraulic lift for the transportation department
Security camera system upgrades
Technology enhancements
Additionally, the levy fully funds 100% of the district’s extracurricular programs, including drama and music, and allows schools to provide free facility access to local organizations like Little League.
With this renewed funding, QVSD ensures students continue to have access to quality education, extracurricular activities, and safe, well-maintained facilities for years to come.
