Recount Requested for District Court II Judge

The 2018 General Election was certified by the Clallam County Canvassing Board on Nov. 27, bringing the election to a close. Results are available on the Clallam County Elections website at www.clallam.net/elections.

Within two business days of certification, an application for a recount may be filed for a race or issue on the ballot, in accordance with RCW 29A.64. On Nov. 29, an application for a requested manual recount was filed by John Black with the Clallam County Auditor’s Office for the District Court II Judge contest.

A Canvassing Board meeting has been set for Monday, Dec. 3 at 12:30 p.m. to authorize conducting the recount, formally set the date and time of the recount, and authorize opening of the sealed ballot containers. The manual recount is tentatively planned to be conducted December 5-6 between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., and then a meeting to certify the results of the requested recount has been planned by the Canvassing Board for Friday, Dec. 7 at 8:15 a.m. All meetings and recount activities will be held in the Elections Center, located at 223 E. 4th Street in Port Angeles, Washington.

The meetings of the Canvassing Board and the recount are open public meetings under the applicable provisions of chapter 42.30 RCW. Each meeting will be continued until the activity for which the meeting is held has been completed.
