Drivers and pedestrians woke up to find light poles and street signs in downtown Forks wrapped in pink ribbons to signify the kickoff of the annual American Cancer Society Forks Relay for Life event. The overnight event starts at 3 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 3 with a cancer survivors lap around the Spartan Stadium track. Booths set up by Relay for Life teams line the track and sell food, soft drinks and other items to raise funds for the American Cancer Society. After dark memorial candles in decorated paper bags are lit and line the track. Entertainment and continual walking by Relay team members around the track are part of the program.
