The 15th annual Piecemakers “Fabric of the Forest” quilt show is scheduled to be held during the annual RainFest celebration set for Friday-Sunday, April 17-19.
The quilt show, along with vendors, will be held at the Forks High School Auxiliary Gym on Spartan Avenue. The hours are Friday noon-6 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m.-6 p.m., Sunday noon-4 p.m.
The list of vendors includes Beach Tyme Quilts, Ocean Shores; Chinook Pharmacy, Forks; Karen’s Quilt Shop, Sequim; Olympic Wool Works, Port Angeles; Quilt Harbor, Aberdeen; Sequim Quilt Co., Sequim; Sleepy Valley Quilt Co., Port Angeles; Sugarplum Design, Sequim.
West End quilters, as well as, former Fabric of the Forest participants who took classes during RainFest are invited to display their quilts from the classes they attended.
Bring your quilts to the FHS auxiliary gym from 2-6 p.m. Thursday, April 16. Quilt show forms need to be filled out with the following information: name or pattern of the quilt, name of owner, name of who pieced the quilt and who it was quilted by, plus dimensions of the quilt. In conjunction with the quilt show, classes will be held by featured quilter and a Judy Niemeyer certified instructor Kathi Carter from Salt Lake City, Utah. Carter has won numerous awards including two Best Longarm Workmanship Awards at AQS Shows, two quilts placed at the Houston Show; and in 2014, she won Best of Show at Phoenix AQS Show and the Best of Show at the Des Moines AQS Show.
Carter also was presented with the National Teacher Award by Elly Sienkiewicz in 2013. The quilts will be part of the lecture/trunk show on Friday night of the 2015 “Fabric of the Forest” quilt show in April. Pre-registration is not required for the lecture and can be paid at the door.
Carter will be teaching the following classes: “Cactus Flower Tablerunner” or “Arizona Cactus Table Topper” (Friday). It is important to specify which class on Friday.
On Saturday is the “Pepper Dish Wallhanging” class. All classes require some pre-cutting, so sign up as soon as possible if you are interested in taking any of the classes.
