Soroptimist International of the Olympic Rain Forest (SIORF) wants to remind the community about the Second Chances: Medical Equipment Loan Closet (MELC). It is one of the group’s community service projects.
SIORF is an international organization with a mission of improving lives in communities as well as empowering women and girls worldwide.
Second Chances lends medical equipment to residents living in the West End, including Forks, Neah Bay, Sekiu and Clallam Bay of Western Clallam and Jefferson counties.
The following medical supplies are available: canes, wheelchairs, walkers, commode, crutches and bath benches and more. Loans and donations can be arranged by calling 360-374-9496, ext. 2.
Any and all equipment in good, clean, and working order is also accepted. No junk.
This is a business office, so please leave a message with your name and phone number if the line is busy. You will receive a return call from the SIORF member on call.
There is no fee to borrow any items; however, financial donations are gladly accepted to help the cause.
For questions, call 360-640-1494 or 360-640-3186.
SIORF shared, “Although we are sad that so many of our community members have been hurt or had surgeries and have had to utilize our medical loan closet, we are glad that we could be there to help out and support you. We do not charge for the items that we loan you. We only ask that when you are finished using it that you bring it back in the condition you received it so others in our community can use it if needed. We have had to purchase some new equipment as there has been such a demand for it. We appreciate your support in this and try our best to have the proper equipment on hand when needed. Thanks so much! Stay healthy!”
MELC is located at Second Chances at 140 Spartan Avenue.
Stop by Wednesday, Friday, or Sunday 12 noon – 4 p.m., or Thursday 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.
