A grant obtained from First Federal Savings & Loan to the Soroptimist International of the Olympic Rainforest, which covered some of the expense, along with the collaboration between the First Congregational Church of Forks and the help of Joe from Jerry’s Rentals made this project become a reality.
This beautiful little food pantry which is located on church property right across from the Forks High School parking lot will help feed and nourish those students that might not have a meal to go home to, plus will be stocked with nutritional snacks to help with energy for studies.
A graffiti-proof trash receptacle is on order and will be installed in the near future. A sign will be added as well that will say, “Take what you need, bring what you can, above all be Blessed.”
Pastor Johnson said, “When I’m talking to people about this project and how it is going to help our students, many people wanted to know how they could donate food and snacks for this project.” You can call the church at 360-374-5319 and leave a message or cell 360-640-8239 to donate and we will make arrangements for you to drop off your donations. Thank you in advance for your generosity and continued support of the youth in our community.
