Orientations to
begin for Youth Olympic Peninsula
Communities
The Michael Trebert Cxhapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) is sponsoring Junior American Citizen clubs (JAC) for K-12 youth in Forks, Sequim and Port Angeles. Club participants are taught by local historians and teachers about American history, principles of our government, patriotism, and what it means to be good citizens.
A Junior Citizen Club orientation meeting for families and their children will be held by the DAR on Thursday, Sept. 2 at 6:30 p.m. in the KSQM Communications Conference Room at 577 W. Washington St., in Sequim, WA. The meeting will feature a special presentation by President George Washington on the topic “What is a citizen?” and the Michael Trebert Chapter Daughters will share information with the children and their parents about the activities available through JAC.
JAC Clubs can be formed within classrooms, church groups, neighborhoods, youth clubs and sports teams. There is no fee for JAC participation. The DAR provides club leaders with lesson plans and club activities for various age groups – some of which involve entire families.
The DAR takes great pride in helping to build future leaders of America through the JAC program. Parents and teachers in other communities throughout the Olympic Peninsula may schedule local informational orientations in their own towns by contacting Marianne Burton, Michael Trebert Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution at mtc1918jac@gmail.com
