On Monday afternoon, Jan. 7 the Quileute Tribe released the following statement about the hostage situation that occurred at La Push beginning late Saturday afternoon, Jan. 5.
"On Saturday, Jan 5 at approximately 3:00 p.m., La Push police received a call of a possible suicidal person. The police responded and classified the incident as a ‘barricaded suicide situation’. There were allegations that a child may have been inside the residence and anytime there is a barricaded suspect with a child involved the standard precaution is to involve the support of outside agencies. The situation was resolved at approximately 6:30 a.m. (Sunday morning, Jan. 6) without incident. Three adults were taken into custody and police are just starting the interviews. The child was released to relatives."
The Forks Forum received reports on Saturday, Jan. 5 that La Push road was barricaded near Third Beach and no one outside of law enforcement officials were allowed into the area where the situation occurred. La Push Police were assisted by the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office personnel from the West End.
