Clallam Transit System’s governing Board has proclaimed Monday, March 18, 2019, as Transit Driver Appreciation Day in Clallam County. This proclamation is in recognition of National Transit Driver Appreciation Day and is an opportunity to express sincere gratitude to all local public transit drivers for delivering the vital public service of safe, friendly, and reliable transportation to Clallam County community members and visitors alike, and to celebrate the contributions of these hard-working transit drivers.
Transit Driver Appreciation Day was conceived in 2009, by a couple of grateful riders from Seattle. They chose March 18th to commemorate the first bus line in service known as Five-Penny Coaches, started by Blaise Pascal in Paris in 1662.
“During the recent snowstorm, which caused challenging traffic conditions, Clallam Transit System’s Clallam Connect and Transit Operators displayed a level of experience and expertise that really highlighted the commitment they have to the community they serve and its visitors,” stated Clallam Transit System’s General Manager Kevin Gallacci. “This was an extreme situation, but it was handled with the same care and professionalism these men and women give every day.”
Please take a moment and join us in thanking our transit drivers on Monday, March 18, 2019, in celebrating Transit Driver Appreciation Day!
