Twilight actress Julia Jones is appearing in a public service announcement that supports the Quileute Tribe’s efforts in supporting federal legislation that helps fund moving homes at LaPush out of a tsunami zone. See the PSA video by clicking here.
In December 2010, Julia Jones was the "guest of honor" at the annual "Cherish our Children" event in La Push. The fundraiser benefits children from both the Forks and La Push areas during the holiday season. Her appearance resulted in a record setting fund-raising total for the event.
In the PSA, Jones references the Quileute Tsunami legislation SB 636. The companion bill in the House of Representatives is HR1162.
"The Quileute Tribe is so grateful to Julia for taking the time out of her busy schedule to film this PSA", Quileute Tribe Chairwoman Bonita Cleveland said in a prepared statement.
Also supporting the passage of the legislation are Twilight actors Tinsel Korey, Gil Birmingham, Kiowa Gordan and Alex Meraz. Chaske Spenser submitted a statement to the Senate Commission on Indian Affairs when he appeared before the committee this past year.
Twilight fan websites are also supporting the passage of the bill.
