FORKS – Drivers on US 101 can expect some delays as crews begin a project to chip seal portions of the highway near Forks and Kalaloch.
From milepost 189.3 to 176.7 near Forks and milepost 156 to 159.4 near Kalaloch, speed limits will be reduced to 35 mph during chip seal operations. The work will require single-lane closures between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. on weekdays from June through August. Pilot cars will guide traffic through the work zones.
The chip-seal process resurfaces the highway by compressing crushed rock into liquid asphalt. WSDOT advises motorcyclists and bicyclists in particular to use caution when traversing through the work zones.
Drivers can get real-time traffic information with the WSDOT mobile app and by following WSDOT’s regional Twitter feed. Advance information is available from the Olympic Region Weekly Construction and Traffic Updates page.
