QVSD Veterans Assembly
The Quillayute Valley School District will host its annual Veterans Day Assembly on Friday, Nov. 9, in the Spartan Gym, beginning at 2:15 p.m. All Veterans and their families are invited to attend.
American Legion Breakfast
On Sunday, Nov. 11, there will be multiple activities around town to honor veterans. To start the day the American Legion Post #106 will host a pancake breakfast from 7-11 a.m., at the Post at the corner of Division Street and Maple Avenue. Cost is a $6 donation; veterans, their families, friends and community are welcome.
VFW Veterans Day Ceremony
Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), with other military Veterans, are presenting a ceremony on the 11th day, of the 11th month, at 11 o’clock at Forks Transit Center; Veterans Day, Sunday, Nov. 11, at 11 am. This is a day of celebration as it was 100 years ago when America and the world celebrated the end of World War I. The support shown by this community for our veterans is awe-inspiring. Veterans Day is for all Americans because we all have a role to play in protecting liberty and freedom. To continue the celebration, a luncheon will be prepared and served by the VFW Auxiliary at the post directly following the ceremony.
Elks to host Veterans Dinner
The Forks Elks will hold their annual Veterans Day Dinner starting at 5:30 p.m., at the Lodge at 941 Merchant Road. Dinner is free for all Veterans and spouses of deceased veterans. Veterans Day activities
in Port Angeles
Coast Guard Air Station/Sector Field Office Port Angeles, in conjunction with the Clallam County Veterans Association, will host its annual Veterans Day ceremony and centennial of Armistice Day, Nov. 11, at 1 p.m.
Air Station/SFO Port Angeles has been designated as a regional Veterans Day observance site for the 22nd consecutive year by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
The public is welcome to attend and can enter the facility from the front gate at 1 Ediz Hook starting at 11:30 a.m. Because of enhanced security requirements, please plan to arrive early and expect delays at the gate. All guests must arrive via vehicle (no walk-ons will be permitted) and are required to present a valid government issued form of identification in order to gain access to the base. Weapons will not be permitted on the base.
The ceremony will be conducted inside the air station hangar, however the hangar doors will be open for the duration of the ceremony. Please dress accordingly as the inside air temperature will reflect the outdoor air temperatures. All guests are invited to remain after the ceremony for complimentary refreshments provided by the Clallam County Veteran’s Association.
