Weekly Hoh Road Update

Last week, Interwest Construction Inc. (ICI) placed roadway aggregate base, placed concrete for the approach slabs, and began setting up the pumps for the stream diversion at Canyon Creek. ICI also continued constructing the Engineered Log Jams (ELJs) at MP 4.5. This week, ICI will continue constructing ELJs, pave the asphalt on the Canyon Creek bridge, and begin excavation to the Canyon Creek culvert. Prior to removal of the culvert, ICI will de-fish within the project limits, place fish screens, build a diversion dam, and divert the stream around the work area with pumps.

Impacts to Traffic

• There following work zones can be expected between MP 3 and MP 11 on Upper Hoh Road:

MP 4.5: Temporary traffic signals or flaggers for ELJ construction.

MP 10: Temporary traffic signals or flaggers for construction of Canyon Creek Bridge

• Travelers should expect delays at each of these locations, up to a total of 30 minutes per passage through the project corridor Mon. through Fri.., 7 a.m.-6 p.m.

• Olympic National Park and businesses along Upper Hoh Road will remain accessible at all times during construction.
