Allen Brown, 74, of Kamiah, ID, passed away peacefully, in the early morning, Thursday, April 25 in the hospital in Cottonwood, ID.
Allen was born in Little Rock, WA to Percy and Thelma (Reed) Brown. He joined the Marines in 1961. Allen served with the 2nd Marine Division for 11 years achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant. He served 3 tours of duty in Vietnam. His awards include; Marine Combat Aircrew wings with one gold star, The Combat Action Ribbon, The Navy Unit Commendation ribbon, The USMC Good Conduct Medal with two bronze stars, The National Defense Service Medal, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, The Vietnam Service Medal with two bronze stars, The Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal.
In the early 1970s, he moved to Forks to work as a mechanic. In 1984 he started Eagle Auto Repair & Towing. He was active in the Forks Lion’s Club. He retired in 2000 and moved to Idaho.
Allen was an avid sportsman and amateur photographer. He enjoyed a lifetime of hunting and fishing. He was most at home outdoors in nature.
Allen is survived by his wife Miriam (Sternsher) Brown in Kamiah, ID. His children – son Wayne Allen and daughter-in-law Kary (Hermann) Brown in Deer Park, WA, daughter Kari Ann, and son-in-law Michael Carpenter in Colorado Springs, CO, and son Josh Broo in Forks, WA. He is also survived by 6 treasured grandchildren, Derrick, Shelbie, Nicole, Lexi, William & Brody.
The family will gather at his home in Idaho for a memorial in July.
