March 18, 1962 – February 9, 2023
Sixty short years was all the time we were given this side of heaven to spend with our beloved Audrey. She passed away after a 4-year journey with pancreatic cancer at Forks Community Hospital in Forks, Washington on February 9, 2023. Audrey was loved by many but no one loved her more than God. We rejoice she is home with her Savior and Lord, free from the troubles of this world.
She was born March 18, 1962 to Samuel and Mary (McVeigh) Quigley in Everett, WA. Her family moved from Langley, WA to Forks in 1967 when her dad took a job with the DNR. Audrey attended Forks Christian Academy her freshman through junior years before graduating from Forks High School. She went on to earn an accounting degree from ITT Technical Institute in Seattle. After returning to Forks to assist with the family auto parts store, she met and married Bob Janssen in 1982. They had two children, Steven (Lisa Clavel) and Erik before their marriage ended in 1988.
During that time Audrey went on to become a personal banking officer at Sea-First/Bank of America when she met current husband of 31 years, Donald Grafstrom. They married in 1991, making a home with Don’s children Tom and Carrie (Allen Hines) in Bear Creek. Audrey went on to serve as Accounting Manager at Forks Community Hospital, Executive Director of Quileute Housing Authority and Administrative Services Manager at West End Outreach Services before becoming City Clerk/Treasurer for the City of Forks. During her tenure at each of these organizations, her contributions resulted in innumerable improvements and many notable projects that are still benefiting the community today.
Audrey was known for her whole-hearted commitment. In addition to her service through career-related organizations, she was also active in her community and a generous contributor to philanthropic pursuits benefiting the surrounding area and the equipping of the Gospel around the world including Young Life, Focus on the Family and Praise 106.5.
Her volunteer pursuits included the Soroptimist International, United Way, and various church roles including Treasurer of the Forks Church of the Nazarene and a regular contributor to the worship team as pianist. At the time of her death, Audrey attended Cornerstone Pentecostal Evangelical Church in Clallam Bay-Sekiu. Audrey regularly contributed to The Caring Place and the Quillayute Valley Scholarship Auction.
Only a few things could pull Audrey away from her dedication to work. Among them were her love for books, traveling the world with her best friend and time with family. She gave to others through a steadfast work ethic, her kind-hearted mentorship and encouragement of many women, musical talents and in her faithfulness to prayer. Audrey had the gift of hospitality; she loved to open her home to others for church picnics, summer barbeques and winter sledding, complete with fireside marshmallow roasting.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Dilley. She is survived by her father, Samuel Quigley of North Bend, WA, her children Tom Grafstrom of Bear Creek, WA, Carrie (Allen) Hines of Vancouver, WA, Steven (Lisa) Janssen of Port Orchard, WA, and Erik Janssen of Charleston, SC; 3 grandchildren: Colton Grafstrom, Alena Grafstrom and Peter Janssen; brothers Steven (Kim) Quigley of North Bend, WA, Alan Quigley of Forks, WA, Brian (MaryGay) Quigley of North Bend, WA, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Audrey can be made to any of the charities or churches mentioned above. Services are planned for May 13 at the Rain Forest Arts Center.
