Barbara McCain King Fletcher was born on January 22, 1936, to George and Scottie (Elmore) McCain. She passed on November 12, 2022. Barbara grew up in the Beaver and Sappho area and graduated from Forks High School in 1954. While in high school she was on the student council, was a cheerleader and was the editor of the school annual.
After high school, she worked as a waitress at the Lapoel Resort at Lake Crescent and was considered a top-notch waitress.
In October 1954 she married Wayne King and the couple had four children; Kevin, Karen, Karla, and Kacy. Their marriage later ended in divorce.
In January 1973 she married Rocky Fletcher. He preceded her in death in 2010. Barbara was also preceded in death by a grandchild and in 2017 by her sister Phyllis Petrovich.
Barbara was well known as a hostess and great cook and hosted card parties and family get-togethers at her home. She also took pride in her gardening skills, with beautiful flowers and a well-manicured lawn; she was even awarded Beautiful Yard of the Month.
Barbara expressed her artistic talents with her doll hobby and for several years decorated a tree for the annual Soroptimist Festival of Trees.
She will be remembered as a loving, kind, and compassionate person.
Barbara is survived by her children Kevin King, Karen King, Karla Warren, and Kacy (Tom) Larkin all of Forks. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.
