Charles E. Anderson, long-time resident of Forks, passed away on October 23, 2017, at the Life Care Center of Port Townsend. Chuck was born in Sedro Woolley, and spent his childhood in the Startup, Washington area. Chuck joined the U.S. Navy in 1945 and served the next 3 years in Kodiak, Alaska, before being honorably discharged in 1948. After his military service, Chuck became a timber
faller and spent the rest of his career in the timber industry as a timber faller, bull buck, and quality control manager.
Chuck moved to Forks around 1953 and married Joyce T. Klahn in 1957. They remained in Forks, where they raised their family, for the majority of their next 60 years. Along with the two sons (Bob and John), Joyce brought to their marriage, they had three more children (Doug, Shane, and Aleta). Chuck was a loving and dedicated father who always put family first.
Chuck was actively involved in the community and served on the Forks City Council, was a member of the Forks Lions Club, and was one of the initial members who started the Forks Logging Show in the early 1960s. In 1979, his career took him to Craig, Alaska, where he worked in quality control in the timber industry for the next 10 years.
He was very proud of his work in Southeast Alaska and it allowed them a comfortable retirement. He was wellknown as a skilled timber faller and was honored to fall the valuable spruce that was gifted from the Alaska natives to the Hawaiian natives.
After retiring, Chuck focused on two of his lifetime passions, gardening, and weightlifting. Over the next 23 years, he would go on to set many Powerlifting World Records in the deadlift for several weightlifting organizations. His heaviest official lift was an amazing 473 lbs when he was over 70 years old.
Chuck was a proud man and hard worker, but his most endearing quality was his love and devotion for his wife, Joyce Anderson. They created a home of love and left an enduring legacy for their children and grandchildren.
Chuck is survived by his children Robert Medsker (Sharon), Doug Anderson, Shane Anderson (Devennie), and Aleta Anderson (Will). He also has 5 grandchildren, Andrew Medsker, Brian Kelly, Erika Anderson, Jacob Anderson, and Tyler Anderson.
