Danny Joel Wahlgren, 68, of Forks, Washington, passed away on July 11 after battling cancer.
Danny was born to Lloyd and Rose on October 12, 1955, in Forks, WA. He spent his school-age years in Forks and Port Angeles. After high school, he worked at Bill’s Texaco before moving to Tacoma to attend Bates Technical College. When he moved back to Forks he worked in the woods, at Hinchen’s mill and as an electrician before taking a position at the City of Forks in 1986. A loyal and dedicated employee, he worked for the City of Forks for 38 ½ years, having planned to finally retire in October of this year.
Danny was an outdoorsman at heart and enjoyed sharing his passion and knowledge with others. But even more than his unwavering work ethic and love of the outdoors, Danny will be remembered for his dedication to family and friends. He thrived on being able to lend a hand and was always generous with his time and talent, no matter if he’d known you a lifetime or you were a brand-new acquaintance.
Danny is preceded in death by his father, Lloyd Wahlgren, his mother, Rose Larson, stepmother Sheila Wahlgren and brother Duke Wahlgren. He is survived by wife of 42 years, Dee, daughter Katie, son Joey (Kristina), granddaughter Allison, siblings Carla, Benn, Gary and Chuck, and many more cherished family members and friends.
The family would like to express immeasurable gratitude to the staff at Forks Community Hospital, who made every effort to ensure Danny’s last days were peaceful and comfortable. We are so thankful for each and every one of you.
