DOUGLAS KEITH MOULTON

12/17/46 – 4/18/19

Douglas Keith Moulton (Doug) passed away at home, April 18, 2019, at the age of 72. Doug was born to William Keith Moulton and Shirley Virginia (Hill) Moulton in Los Angeles, California, on December 17, 1946. He was the second of three children born to them.

Doug graduated from Morningside High School in Inglewood, California in June of 1964, and enlisted in the United States Army that same month. He served as a Specialist E-5 and did two tours in Vietnam.

During his time in the Army he received, among other honors, the Vietnam Service Medal, Air Medal w/22nd Oak Leaf Cluster and “V” Device, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal w/60 Device, the Purple Heart, the Distinguished Flying Cross, and the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry w/Gold Star. He was honorably discharged in June of 1967.

On May 30 of 1970, he married Donna Loomer (Moulton) of South Pasadena, California. They lived in Whittier, California for 8 years before moving to Forks, WA in 1978, where they have resided for the past 41 years.

Over the years, Doug worked as an auto and diesel mechanic and a maintenance man for several local and State agencies. He was a commercial fisherman, worked in the woods cutting and hauling cedar blocks, and he became one of the head planermen and graders at Rosmond Brothers’ (later Loth) Lumber and

Cedar Mill in Forks. When the Mill closed, Doug attended Peninsula College in Port Angeles, WA, graduating with honors and an AA Degree in Electronics.

Shortly after, he was hired by the Quillayute Valley School District to install the computer network. He went on to become the IT Network manager and retired in 2012. After retiring, he enjoyed a variety of hobbies, including traveling, water sports and fishing, woodworking-particularly lathe work- turning bowls, cooking-particularly baking bread, and smoking and barbequing meat with his church club, “The Holy Smokers”.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Donna, his younger brother, Paul (and Alexis) Moulton of San Clemente, California, his older sister, Maryl Douglas, of Snohomish, WA, his niece, Lacey (and Michael) Rellaford, of Dana Point, California, and his niece, Kim (and Eric) Houghton of Snohomish, WA.

A Celebration of Life Service for Doug will be held at the church he loved and attended for the last 40 years, Forks Assembly of God, in Forks, on Saturday, June 1st at 12:00 Noon. There will be a BBQ reception at the church immediately following the service. All are welcome to attend.
