Elda Brandt passed away peacefully at the Joyce, WA home she shared with Jim, her husband of nearly 30 years, on Sunday, April 23, 2023. She was surrounded by the family and friends that had cared for her during a long illness.
Elda was born in Forks, Washington to Beverly and Robbie Robertson on December 12, 1955. She is survived by her blended family that she and Jim cherished: her sister Michelle Hall (Ed), children: Jennifer Criel (Mark Palmer), Kurt Engel, Jamie Brandt (Courtney), Jenna Moore (Chris), Steve Brandt (Stacie), Joe Mast and Godsister Leesa Brown. There were also six grandchildren who were a constant source of joy and exasperation: Jamie Criel, Jasper Criel, Iyla Lee Criel, J.J. Criel, Laurel Moore and Anna Brandt. The definition of family was very flexible to Elda. All were welcomed as family and would also be reminded that hats aren’t worn in the house. Even the Joyce fire department stopped by often for visits the last few months and brought a stuffed toy Dalmatian as a mascot.
Growing up in Forks, Elda was very active in school and outside activities. She was the school drill team captain and was a Forks 4th of July princess one year. As an adult, Elda had a variety of hobbies and activities that she was passionate about such as cake decorating, crocheting and Americana home décor. Elda was always a good sport and would try new activities which led to being ordained as a minister and performing numerous wedding ceremonies and becoming the proprietor of The Dam Bar for several years. Nothing matched her biggest passion – the Seattle Seahawks. Game days were events and scheduled into everyday life. The Super Bowl win in 2014 was definitely a bucket list moment.
There will be a Celebration of Life potluck on Saturday, July 8, 2023, starting at 1:00 pm. It will be held at Steve Schoffel’s home – 55703 Highway 112, Port Angeles, WA. There will be music and a chance to share our memories of Elda. Bring your favorite dishes, beverages and a chair.
