Garold Martin Rand of Forks, WA was Promoted to Glory on October 7 in the presence of his son and daughter at Forks Long Term Care. He was 77 years old.
Garold was born in Port Angeles, WA on March 14, 1944, to Donald and Claudine (Powless) Rand. He graduated from Port Angeles Senior High in 1962 and played football for the Roughriders.
Mr. Rand was a proud U.S. Army Veteran. He served from 1967 to 1968. He was in the 7th Infantry Division, Camp Casey Korea. He served as a Flight Operations Coordinator in Army Aviation.
Garold married Carol (Roswall) Rand on July 22, 1972, in Vancouver, WA. They moved to the Sekiu/Clallam Bay area where he worked as a log scaler for Crown Zellerbach. They moved to Forks in 1977 and stayed.
Garold later worked for I.T.T. Rayonier as a log appraiser. Local loggers knew him by his handle: “Hector”. Garold also worked as a bus driver for ParaTransit and was named Driver of the Year in 1996 for the company. He also drove for West Jefferson Transit.
Garold was active in leadership in his church community as his life in Jesus was of the utmost importance. He was an elder at Clallam Bay Presbyterian until his move to Forks. Finding a church home at Forks Bible Church, he served in multiple roles.
Garold loved history and respected its importance. He especially loved history concerning World War II and local Clallam County history. He was a member of the West End Historical Society.
Garold leaves behind his loving wife Carol, his sister Sharon (Sequim), his daughter the Rev. Evangeline Rand (Centralia), son Bramwell and wife Aimee (Covington), and his 2 grandsons Noah and Kia.
