Jack L. Merrick

Oct. 18-1927 – Aug. 18, 2017

Jack was a long time Forks resident. He grew up in Ione, WA where both he and his brother were raised by their grandparents.

At age 18 he joined the army and on one fateful weekend leave, he met his future wife and love of his wife Leona Meyer. They married Aug. 22, 1948, and together raised five children.

He worked in the mines a few years and moved to Forks in 1952 and worked in the timber industry for 32 years. After retiring from timber cutting he took a course in appliance repair and became the local repairman for many years.

His hobbies were scuba diving in his younger years and photography. He never left home without a camera. He was preceded in death by his wife, Leona, daughter Diane Kitchel and granddaughter Melanie Kitchel. He is survived by his children Cheryl Carter (Larry), Pati Brooks (David), Duane Merrick (Susan), Daryl Merrick (Terri), and 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, Sept. 30 at 1:00 p.m. at the family home at 711 Bogachiel Way.
