James D. Cooper was born in Ogden, Utah on August 15, 1942. He passed at his home in Forks, WA on May 6, 2024.
Jay, as he was known, served in Vietnam from 1966-1967, and later also served in the U.S. Coast Guard, leaving that service in 1980.
He loved fishing and worked as a fishing guide from 1980 to 1983.
On August 31, 1983, he married Patty Schumack.
After retiring from guiding Jay worked as a New York Life Agent starting in 1983 and retiring in 2003.
Jay is survived by his wife Patty of Forks; children Mike Marshall and Natalie Sovde; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A Celebration of Life was held June 1, 2024.
