Kenneth Ervin Hallenbeck “Kenny” “Ole Geezer” “Kenny haulin’ logs” peacefully passed away October 15, 2022, at his home in Forks, WA at the age of 81. Following a courageous and exhausting battle with cancer. Kenny was born January 16, 1941, in Edmonds, WA.
After graduating from Edmonds High School Kenny immediately joined the US Navy where he proudly served our country for six years. While serving his country overseas, he met his first wife Mioko, and had two sons.
After the military, he moved to Trout Lake where he raised his two boys. Ken’s sociable nature, mechanical genius, and general resourcefulness helped him become the jack of all trades working as a plumber, electrician, carpenter, and eventually a log truck driver. Which then brought him to Forks, WA in 1988 where he met his wife Kimberly Hallenbeck in 1990 and married in 1995.
He continued to drive truck for almost 30 years until he had his last heart attack in 2004 which then made him finally park the truck for good. Kenny loved to work and tinker with projects for himself and would often leave to help a friend before finishing his own project.
His true passion was driving up in the woods in the early hours to watch the sunrise, the smell of fresh-cut timber, all the wildlife roaming around, the chatter on the CB radio and having his kids, nieces and nephews riding along with him. Kenny’s true passion was driving down the road in his Kenworth logging truck doing what he loved.
Kenny was one of those guys who welcomed everyone with a warm smile and always a joke (usually not appropriate). He loved each and every one of his neighbors over the years.
Kenny took pride in fixing up bikes for the neighbor kids, riding his lawn mower down the street to feed the neighbor’s pigs and goats along with a warm smile and wave. Kenny was a hardworking man and if he wasn’t logging, he was out working on his trucks.
Kenny is survived by his wife of 27 years; Kimberly Hallenbeck, his siblings Mary Hobson (Al Sathers), his twin sisters Julie and Judi Hallenbeck, brother-in-law Everett Hobson, Dana Leonard, Daryl Leonard, sister-in-law Teresa Olson, Patty Leonard, his children Mikey (Sherry) Hallenbeck, Jimbo Hallenbeck, Kristina Currie (Tim Zimmer), Robert (Cora) Currie, Marissa (Mike) Marcozzi, his grandchildren Alizha (Jason) Cummins, Chantille (Tim) Redding, Teagan Hallenbeck, Brianna Hallenbeck, Travis Hallenbeck, Darlene (Donnie) Hollum, Marcus Obi, Shawn (Jade) Penn, Wally Williams, Raven, and Xoey Penn, George Hudson, William Horejsi, Timothy and Jolean Currie, Korben, Max and Oliver Marcozzi plus many nieces, nephews and great-grandchildren.
He is proceeded in death by his parents Olive, Ervin and Kay Hallenbeck, brother James Hallenbeck, brother-in-law Rambo and grandchild Darryl (Sunshine) Obi. A celebration of life will be held on December 3rd, 1 p.m. at the Forks Elks Lodge, 941 Merchants Road, Forks.
