On January 29, 2023, Larry Suslick of Forks passed away peacefully at home, joining his wife of 60 years, Barbara, who preceded him in death February 2021. He is survived by their three children: Carolynn Suslick; Bryan Suslick (m. Pam); and Anne Potter (m. Mike). In addition, there are three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren: Elizabeth Suslick, Steven Suslick (m. Amanda; c. Zoe and Mackenzi), and Megan Suslick. Larry also has a surviving sister, Carol Pearson of Everson, WA and a half-sister, Vicky Arneson of Eureka, CA, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Larry was born in 1941 at the Port Angeles hospital, the second child of Harold and Dawn (Nelson) Suslick. He graduated from Port Angeles High and supported his family as a timber faller on the Olympic Peninsula through the 1980s. After retiring from his second career of 20 years with the DNR, he spent time traveling with Barb, fishing area rivers, various outdoor activities, and enjoying family time with children, grandchildren and extended family.
Larry’s other interests included his faith in God, attending church, being a Sunday school teacher (for 2-4-year-olds!), hosting home Bible studies, and chaperoning youth outings. He was also a strong advocate for maintaining the local sport fisheries for future generations, a primary supplier of hatchery stock for the Sol Duc River program in particular.
Larry was well-loved and will be missed.
There will be a small gathering for immediate family at a later date.
