Linda Simons

1947-2023

Former Forks resident, Linda Simons, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at Olympic Memorial Hospital in Port Angeles, Washington on June 10, 2023. She was born to Robert and Iva Perin on January 2, 1947, in Vancouver, WA. Linda grew up in Northern California until 1954. She then moved to St. Maries, Idaho after she and her siblings were orphaned. In 1965 she graduated from Enterprise, Oregon High School.

Walking home from work one day is when she met her partner and soul mate in life, Marvin Simons.

They were married on October 20, 1967, in St. Maries, Idaho. A few years later, together they welcomed their first-born child, Gary Robert Simons. Two years later they welcomed their second child, Kathy LeAnn Simons. Their family was complete.

Linda’s passions in life were being a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, being outside in the sunshine with her family, animals of any kind, and running the family business. In 1985 Marvin and Linda moved to Forks, WA. It was there that she continued to proudly raise her family and run the family business. Some years later the Spotted Owl habitat issue began to affect the livelihood of many gypo loggers. Mom applied for a scholarship so she could attend Peninsula College.

It was soon afterward that Linda and Marvin moved to Tumwater, Washington. Marvin began driving dump trucks on the 1-5 corridor and Linda got a job at Briggs Nursery in Olympia in the accounting department.

Linda and Marvin lived in Tumwater for well over 20 years. She beamed with excitement and pride as she watched her family grow. She was known as Mom, Grandma, or Grammy by us all. Her youngest grandson, Mateo lived the closest to her while she lived in Tumwater. When Mateo and his mom Kai-lani would come visit her, Linda would have the biggest smile on her face. She was very proud of her son Gary and his wife Ginger for building their new house and the four-legged grandbabies that they gave her. Linda also loved visits to Sequim to visit her daughter Kathy’s house with her husband Tim, their children Brittany, Kyle, Brett, Timmy, and his wife Laura, all their four-legged fur babies, but most of all, the grandbabies Kameryn, Olivia, and Mason.

Linda was a very tough person. She lived her last few years in more pain than any of us knew. She was a stubborn person and would never let on to us that she suffered so much. In February 2023, her children finally convinced her to move closer to them in Sequim, WA. It was such a blessing to have Mom and Dad closer to family so we could spend more time with them. Sadly, it was not enough time.

She was loved very much by her family and is greatly missed. Sometimes, only one person is missing, and the whole world seems depopulated. Her absence is like the sky. spread over everything, No more pain, struggles, or sadness for our beautiful Mom, Grandma, and Grammy.

Linda was survived by her husband Marvin Simons, children: Gary (Ginger) Simons, and Kathy (Tim) Wright, grandchildren: Kyle Eastman, Brittany Eastman, Timmy (Laura) Wright, and Brett Wright. Great-grandchildren: Kameryn Pierce. Mateo Eastman, Olivia Wright, and Mason Wright.

Per Linda’s request, there will be no services.
