Mary (Marie) Elzada Early Millsaps

Marie Millsaps, 94 years young, passed away peacefully at Forks Community Hospital Long Term Care January 23, 2017.

Marie was born October 22, 1922, in Fry, Georgia, she was from a family of seven.

She married Wilden Lee Millsaps and moved from Georgia to Washington the spring of 1941. They raised five children on the Bogachiel, where she worked at the resort and cabins in housekeeping. After the sixth child was a year old they moved in to Forks, then five years later had child number seven.

She loved children, taking walks, beachcombing, dancing and feeding the birds. She always welcomed those who came to visit with food, known for her fried chicken and banana pudding. Marie was well known for being a restaurant cook, working 20+ years at the Vagabond and later finishing with her retirement from the Pay and Save Coffee Shop, sometimes cooking 100’s of the famous “logger burgers.”

She loved being a gramma to 16 grandkids, 13 great-grands, 1 great-great grand and one on the way. Marie is survived by her children, Wanda (Avery) Bumgarner Port Angeles, Pete (Kay) Millsaps Forks, Gary (Kathie) Millsaps Port Angeles, Rick Millsaps Forks, Randy (Carilee) Millsaps Yakima, Lori (Eric) Stohl Marysville, Tami Steveson (Bob Bouchard) Forks.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents Harley and Elzada Early, brothers Harvey and Bobbie, sisters (Esther) and Rosie and a grandson Keith Millsaps. At the family’s request please send any donations to Forks Community Hospital Long Term Care. A private family service will be held this summer
