Paul Frank Pagac Jr passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his wife and three children on December 19, 2024.
He was born and raised in northern Wisconsin. His parents owned and operated a fishing resort, and his childhood was spent fishing, hunting, and trapping. The youngest in the family, he was doted on by his two big sisters. Paul loved the outdoors and loved to share it with his nieces and nephews and later his children and grandchildren.
After graduating, Paul moved to Superior, Wisconsin to attend the University of Wisconsin where he studied art.
In 1975 he was on a cross-country trek with plans to end up in Alaska when he found himself in Forks, Washington. One night in the Smokehouse Bar he met Joyce Maris, and their romance began. They were married on April 14, 1979. In February of 1980, Paul and Joyce welcomed their first child, Paul Frank 3rd. They later welcomed two daughters, Mindy and Anna.
For many years Paul ran Pagac & Son Construction. When the roofs got too steep and the sheetrock got too heavy, he got his real estate license and worked for Forks Avenue Real Estate. In real estate he found his calling, meeting many people to befriend. Joyce never knew who was going to show up at the dinner table. He was also trained in shooting sporting clays and shared his love for the sport as an instructor.
Paul was an outdoorsman, a storyteller, the life of any party. He was always welcoming to new friends and acquaintances. Chances are, if you sat next to Paul at the bar or stood next to him at the grocery store, he would have a story to share with you. His memory will live on in many shared experiences with his family and friends. We will miss his love of life and the many tall tales he shared with us.
Paul is predeceased by his parents, Paul Frank and Rose Pagac, as well as his sister, Penny Hickman. He was also predeceased by his niece, Teresa Knoll.
Paul is survived by his wife of nearly 46 years, Joyce (Maris) Pagac as well as his sister Judy (Fred) Keith and brother-in-law, Clair “Chooch” Hickman. He is also survived by his 3 children, Paul Pagac III, Mindy (Brandon) Hilby, Anna (Reid) Miltenberger, and grandchildren Bailey Pagac, Danika Pagac, Cailyn Pagac, Penelope Hilby, David Paul Miltenberger, Dax Miltenberger, and many nieces, nephews and loved ones.
A celebration of life will be held on March 1, 2025, at the Forks Elks Lodge, details to follow. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Forks Community Hospital and Forks Family Medical Center for their help and caring support during his final days.
