Phyllis (“Neicie”) was born May 15, 1916, in Forks WA to Morton and Pauline Morganthaler Peterson. She died on October 15, 2022, at Life Care Center of Port Orchard WA of age-related causes at the age of 106.
Phyllis loved her family, social gatherings, dancing, holiday dinners, and RV traveling throughout the northwest. After growing up in Port Angeles and beginning a family, she moved to Carlsbad CA where she ran a cafe and continued to raise her boys. She moved back and forth between CA and WA multiple times. She enjoyed moving into new homes, fixing them up, moving on, and doing it all again. She loved her cats, her parrot Taco and her pet crow.
She remained young at heart and was incredibly sharp in spite of her age. She enjoyed sharing stories of her life with people and always kept her sense of humor.
Phyllis is survived by three sons, Emery Winters Jr. (Lila) of Port Angeles, Larry Rogers of Port Orchard, and Rodney Fitch (Lou) of Belfair, thirteen grandkids and many great-grandchildren, plus two great great grandchildren to boot. Phyllis was predeceased by her parents, her stepdad William Danz and two sons, Eugene Winters and William Rogers.
A celebration of life is planned for the spring of 2023.
