Willard Charles Morgan

Willard Charles Morgan went to be with the love of his life on January 30, 2018, in Forks, Washington at the age of 91.

Willard was born on January 25, 1927, in Little Rock, Arkansas to Clark and Lucy Morgan. At a young age, Willard left Arkansas starting his journey that carried him to Raymond, Washington where he met the love of his life, Evelyn. He and Evelyn were married on August 28, 1948, and they welcomed their first child Bob. After moving to Forks, Washington in 1951 Willard began working in the logging industry taking various positions in the woods, mills, and driving log trucks. Soon after moving Willard and Evelyn were graced with more children, Steve and twins Connie and Ron. His children remember him as a loving and caring father who encouraged them to pursue their goals.

Willard was a social, active man who was deeply involved the community and often volunteered with the Ray Ellis Volunteer Ambulance Crew, search and rescue, delivering mail, working at the Forks Visitors Center, Timber Museum as well as leading logging and mill tours, and assisting at the food bank. It was often said by others “If there was a place that could use help, Willard would be there.” He never met a stranger and was always happy to sit and visit with anyone who had time! He was very proud of the stories that Lonnie Archibald had published about him in the books Old Trucks and Gear Jammers and Keep on Truckin’.

Willard passed away peacefully after struggling with congestive heart failure for many years. He will be remembered as a great family man, loving father, and faithful friend.

Willard is survived by his sister Bessie Hanson of Hoquiam, his children, Connie Birley (Tim) of Forks, Ron Morgan (Miranda) of Mount Vernon and grandchildren; Mike Morgan (Raelynn), Michelle, Amy, Stephanie Tjepkema (Jayson), Tiffany Morris (Corey), and Sydney Baker (Darren), along with a total of twelve great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and three granddogs. He is preceded in death by his parents Clark and Lucy Morgan, Wife Evelynn, Mother in Law Mildred Welch, two sons Bob and Steve, and siblings Alice, Dollie, Tommy, Clara, Frank, and Violet.

Willard’s family would like to invite all friends to gather at the Forks Assembly of God at 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 17, 2018, for a potluck Celebration of Life. Come, bring a dish, share lunch, tell stories of times shared with Willard, and visit just as he loved to do.
