William James Traub passed away on Monday, January 1, 2018, in Oakland Township, Michigan. Bill is survived by his mother Leona Traub, sister Lana Harris, and brother Paul Traub, and was the son of William A. Traub.
After graduating from Allen Park High School in 1966, Bill entered the U.S. Army, serving one tour of duty in Vietnam from 1967 to 1968. After leaving the armed forces, Bill worked as a lineman for Michigan Bell Telephone Company before earning a Bachelor’s of Engineering from Michigan Technological University and a Master’s of Engineering from the University of Alaska.
Bill then entered the U.S. Navy, serving four years and reaching the rank of Lieutenant. He subsequently traveled west and settled down in Forks, Washington where he resided for over 25 years. He retired in 2013 after serving as a Forest Engineer for the Olympic Region of the Washington State Department of Natural Resources.
An outdoors enthusiast who enjoyed sailing, scuba diving, bicycling, hiking, and many other forms of exercise, Bill had a huge impact on the lives of his family and friends, and will be truly missed by all of them. Interment will take place in the spring at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan.
