Yvonne Darlene Caulkins Moore

July 18, 1937-March 9, 2018

Our one and only beloved Mom passed away on the evening of March 9, 2018 at the age of 80. She was born in Port Angeles, WA on July 18, 1937 to D.J. and Marge Caulkins. She attended Queen of Angels Catholic School thru 9th grade. Mom’s faith would remain with her for the rest of her life, even when she didn’t want it to! In high school she enjoyed archery, tennis and waterskiing. She once waterskied the length of Lake Sutherland on a bet in the middle of winter with her Dad’s longjohns on for a case of beer. She won! She graduated from Port Angeles High School in 1955 and briefly attended Seattle University.

She married Don Moore on August 7, 1959. Son Steve soon followed, daughter Debi, and finally daughter Donella. Our childhood was filled with animals, motorcycles, sports, time with cousins, holidays with grandparents, time spent in Ocean Shores at our grandparents condo, family vacations, family dinners and Disney on Sunday nights. For all the special memories we thank you Mom.

A little about Mom, she loved to go! Even if just to Kalaloch for dinner! She was a good cook and baker and always had a clean house. Her love for the sun often had us headed to Eastern Washington for pool time, change of scenery and a Bud Light. Mom loved to dance, was an excellent bowler, dabbled in ceramics, loved Elvis and CCR and never missed a parade.

Mom worked at Forks Water Department until her retirement. After her and Dad divorced she moved to Sparks, NV where she enjoyed giving the one armed bandits a run for their money!

Mom’s life was not without challenges, which she weathered without complaint coming out the other side no worse for the wear.

The last few years of Mom’s life were filled with health challenges. She actually died at one point, and upon awakening in the ER, looked at the doctor and said, “You’re a good man Charlie Brown.” That’s our Mom. We will miss her sense of humor.

Our mom carried herself with grace and dignity to the end, which filled us with pride. Here’s to you Mom from your loving family we will never be the same without you. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts Steve, Debi and Donella.

To the incredible kind loving staff at Forks Long-term Care we cannot thank you enough for the wonderful care Mom received. From the nurses, to the aides to Dr. Dixon, Mom couldn’t have been in better hands.

Yvonne is survived by her children Steve Moore, Debi (Albert) Huggins, and Donella Rogers. Her beloved grandkids Kaylan (Brittany), Andrew (Tara), Stephanie, DJ (Jessie), Jordan (Felice), Natalie, Nick, Kate and Jack. Great grandchildren Kade, Sawyer, Jamis and Halle. Sister Danya Parker, brother Wayne (Cheryl) Caulkins. Along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Mom we hope your heaven finds you with the sun in your face and a Bud Light in your hand. We love you.

There will be no service at Mom’s request. To all of you who knew and loved Mom thank you for being in her life.

If you would like to donate in memory of Mom you can do so at Forks Timber Museum, 1421 S. Forks Ave. Forks, WA 98331.
