Dear Community,
Just a word about how I was touched by two of our Senior boys that helped put on the fundraiser for the Food Bank last weekend. Caleb Peters and Dominic Quenneke are two senior boys that have been helping out with our food bank for their Senior Project. When they heard I was putting on a Bell Concert to benefit the Food Bank they asked if they could help out. It is quite an undertaking to transform the Fellowship Hall at the Congregational Church from Breakfast with Santa to concert format with taking down tables and chairs plus sweeping and mopping the floors and then setting up the hall for the concert. So, of course, I said, “Yes, I will take all the help I can get.” Was I in for a real surprise!
These two young men worked their tails off to get the hall cleaned up. They put up the chairs and tables for the concert in time for the bell choir to set up their bells. It was nice to see how they worked with the volunteers for the breakfast to get the hall transformed. Also, these two, along with people they know, plus the church women made cookies and baked goods for the concert.
Thanks to Shauna Peters, Caleb’s mom, who was right there guiding and putting the finishing touches on the cookie table and refreshments.
The Rainshadow Ringers from Carlsborg under the direction of Cheryl Winney gave a concert that was out of this world. It was enjoyed and attended by over 120 people.
Needless to say, we were blessed with over $1,000 in cash donations and two large totes of food for the Forks Food Bank.
A big thank you to all who were involved and/or gave a donation to make this fundraiser such a huge success. It shows what happens when this community works together. What a way to kick off the holiday season.
Blessings to all,
Pastor Warren Johnson
