Improving recycling

Dear Editor and …

Fellow West End Voters, I am so frustrated with cleaning up roadways and beaches full of plastics and other “throw away” and single-use litter. Right now, bills are moving through our Washington State Legislature to work on improving recycling in our state. I hope you will study the bills, decide to support them and then call the Legislative Hotline (1-800-562-6000) and or go to the online system (House bill (HB 1150): https://app.leg.wa.gov/pbc/bill/1150).

See the Zero Waste Washington website for information on current bills (https://zerowastewashington.org/legislative-work/). In addition to the Recycling Reform Act, they are working on Right to Repair bills, improving compost and organics management, and many more.

Contacting our Legislators (Chapman, Tharinger and Bernbaum) is easy. Let’s be active citizens. Watch the Forks Forum for upcoming Beach Cleanups and Earth Day activities in April.
