Dear Editor
I read with interest the Sept. 22, 2022 issue of the Forks Forum, regarding the Forks Fire. I was seventeen at the time and happened to be at La Push. The fire was causing a considerable updraft, taking various leaves up and west. The leaves were coming down at La Push and no doubt further out to sea.
None of them were on fire. I recall seeing that picture of “The men that fought the fire” back then. I recognized several of them. I heard a story of one man saving his, and his neighbor’s homes with a garden hose. The tales of yesteryear!
