Dear Editor,
Forks Community Coalition and QVSD would like to extend a HUGE THANK YOU to several people, agencies and businesses for their support in hosting a successful 2019 MVP Youth Prevention Summit. This year we were able to bring in a keynote speaker that spoke to the whole student body in both the Jr High and High school.
By doing this it allowed those students who were not able to attend the MVP event a chance to still hear the message from the Keynote speaker. This year’s speaker was youth motivational speaker Scott Backovich. This event takes a lot of planning and a lot of local support both with funding and in-kind donations.
We would like to thank all of the following: Principals Cindy Feasel and Elena Velasquez for their continued support! Without them, we would not have been able to hold the assembly for all the students! Their support was key to making that happen.
Peninsula College for allowing us to use their facility to hold the event for the 5th year in a row and the staff volunteers they had on site to help (Deb Scannell, Kari McCommon, Caleb Peters, Misty Mate, Nitasha Lewis, Mark Feasel and Yolanda Machado), our breakout session leaders Alissa and Sam Seda, Fudd Charles, Micaela Villicana, Yolanda Machado and Scott Backovich. DJ Juan Almazan for the music that helped the atmosphere stay upbeat, Cecilia Reaume who MC’d for us again!
Devennie Anderson and her great crew at Subway (they made 175 lunches), Bruce Paul and the wonderful Outfitters crew (donated the 5 dozen doughnuts), and the awesome folks involved in the Forks Soroptimist group and the Hoh and Quileute Tribes. And last but definitely not least my amazing subcommittee for their help bringing it all together!!

I know that the youth that attended this event had a great time and it is all because of the wonderful support and time you all have given to our youth! So a very big heartfelt THANK YOU for making this an amazing event again this year!! Know that you make a positive difference in the lives of the youth!!
