Forks boys district champs

WINLOCK — The Forks boys walked away this weekend with district wrestling championship.

The Spartans were district champs for the fifth straight year. Forks had two weight champions, placed five wrestlers into the championship matches for their weights and 17 out of the 18 Spartans at the district meet in Winlock placed.

Forks finished with 323.5 points, well ahead of second-place Rainier at 294.

Forks’ Dominick Sanchez was first at 106 pounds, winning one match over his teammate Royer Pablo by an 18-3 technical fall and winning the championship with a pin over Blake Bell of Ilwaco.

Abraham Montealegre was first at 113 pounds by winning two straight matches by pin, including a first-round pin over Alex Richards of Adna in the championship match.

Making the championship matches were Braden Camacho-Roldan at 126, Landon Thomas at 138 and Kenneth Daman at 285, with all three finishing second.

Coming in third were Bryan Lucas at 113 pounds, Jon Parker Jr. at 175 pounds and Adrian Sanchez at 150 pounds.

Other wrestlers who placed include Pablo, who finished fourth at 106; Orlando Camacho, fifth at 120; Samuel Lopez Rivera, sixth at 120; Simeone Jackson-Cruz, sixth at 132; Luis Ornelas, sixth at 157; Avery Greene, seventh at 285; Justin Sandoval, eighth at 126; Daniel Lopez, ninth at 132; Edwin Black, 10th at 165.

The Forks girls wrestlers are expected to do well at district. Their meet is Saturday in Montesano.
