Forks girls second at Mascara Madness

BELFAIR — The Forks girls wrestling team finished second out of 13 schools at the Mascara Madness Wrestling Tournament held at North Mason High School this weekend.

Forks had four weight class champions and finished with 132 points, second only to 2A Aberdeen with 159.5 points. Port Angeles was seventh at 41 points and East Jefferson 11th at 25.

Forks’ Kinley Rondeau took first at 100 pounds with three straight pins and Flora Horejsi was first at 105 pounds with two straight pins.

The Spartans’ Peyton Johnson was first at 120 pounds with two pins and a 14-8 decision over Grace Odum of River Ridge in the championship match. Jade Blair won the 125-pound weight class with three straight pins.

Also placing for Forks was Lillianna Galeana, who came in second at 110 pounds, making it to the championship match with two pins. She was beaten in a technical fall in the finals by Maya Lindauer of River Ridge. LaRayne Blair had a busy day, going 5-1 to finish third at 130 pounds. In all, these six Forks girls went 18-2 on the day.

For Port Angeles, Lilly Lancaster finished third at 115 pounds, winning three straight matches with pins after losing her opening match. The Roughriders’ Persephone Perry finished fourth at 120 pounds, going 4-2 on the day with three pins and an 11-7 decision. Bryelle Wopperer was fourth at 145 pounds, going 2-2 on the day.

For East Jefferson, Ursula Schmidt finished third at 155 pounds, winning three out of four matches, all by pin.
