More from Duncan’s Fields

By Lonnie Archibald

Last week’s Forks Forum featured four of the six T-ball teams who call Duncan’s fields home. Well showcased here are the other two powerhouse teams known as the Red Sox and the Pirates.

No, there was no Green Monster wall in left field to hit over as the Red Sox would find in Boston and no Allegheny River to send the ball into as one might find in Pittsburgh, home of the Pirates. Here at Duncan Fields, however, there was a large crowd of fans seated in lawn chairs and on blankets to drive the hardball to.

The sun shined bright on these star players as they took to the diamonds in front of family and friends. So let us have a look at some of those four to six-year-old future Spartans, as batters attempted to hit the ball off the T while fielders scampered on defense to cut down the runners here in West End Youth League action.

It was a hard-hit ground ball sent through the hole to left field by Red Sox batter Annette Gaddy. Which hole you ask? Well, one of many you see as the defensive players in T- Ball are still learning their positions and holes are many.
