Neah Bay girls win district championship; look to defend state title

AUBURN — The Neah Bay girl’s basketball team won another Tri-District tournament championship as the team now heads to the state tournament looking to win three titles in a row.

The Red Devils, 20-1 overall, enter the 1B state playoffs as the No. 1 team in the state in Ratings Percentage Index after beating Lummi in the district championship game 48-37.

The game was not as close as the final score showed as the Red Devils went into the fourth quarter up 39-19.

Neah Bay hit nine 3-pointers. Qwaapeys Greene led the team with 20 points, hitting three 3-pointers. Cerise Moss made four 3-pointers and scored 12, while Angel Halttunen hit a pair of treys for seven points total.

Neah Bay as expected is seeded No. 1 at the state tournament and will face No. 8 seed Pateros.
