This fall Forks athlete Iziah Morton will be attending Orange Coast College to start his degree in sports medicine and to play football. “I will be fighting for the starting center spot on the line, my former head coach Emil West went and played there for college so he offered me the chance to check the school out and his former line coach will be my line coach at OCC,” Morton said.
“On my trip, I had a great time. The campus was awesome, the coaching staff was great and they made me feel like I was at home. They just got a new head coach, so I will be apart of a new program,” Morton added.
Morton said Coach Smith was really straight forward about everything. He teaches and said he can get Morton off to a bigger school within 2 years.
“I was able to meet a teammate I will be playing with next year who has big offers from USC, UCLA, Boise State, and three other big schools. What was cool to me was that the San Diego Chargers use the athletic complex and practice field at the college and that Alabama had played there a couple years ago,” Morton said.
He added that talking with Coach Smith and new head coach Bubba Gonzalez he had a great feeling that he would be a perfect fit for the program. “The tour had just an all around a great feeling, I can’t wait to get down there and get started,” Morton stated.
