After spotting the Sequim High School Wolves a six-run third inning the Spartans played much better. A couple of base running errors cost a couple of runs and took them out of a potential big inning. The team showed a lot of improvement since their first game. Michael Dean pitched three-and-a-third good innings and Mitchell Leppell threw a shut out inning in relief. Walks were a real killer in the game as eight of the 11 Sequim runners that scored were on base by walks.
Reis Lawson had two hits for the Spartans. MIchael Dean, Tre Harris and Javier Contreras each picked up singles.
I think the team is working hard and will continue to improve. Next up is an Evergreen league double header scheduled for home against Rainier on Tuesday, March 20 and a non-league game with Lake Quinault on Friday, March 23.
