Forks wrestlers won three weight divisions and sent seven wrestlers to the championship matches in their divisions while winning the Island Invitational on Bainbridge Island this last weekend.
Forks tallied 229.5 team points, well ahead of second-place Blaine at 168.5. Port Angeles was fourth out of 13 schools with 118.5 points.
“I was quite happy with the performance of all our kids. This tournament was not the level of the tournaments we usually go to, but I think there were good learning matches for all our kids,” said Forks coach Bob Wheeler.
Spartans coach Bob Wheeler wanted to clear up some scheduling confusion regarding league meets.
Forks’ next Evergreen League dual will be held against Montesano and Elma on Thursday at Elma. The Spartans will be the home team for the Montesano match, but Wheeler wanted to make sure the public knows both duals will be held in Elma.
Forks will not host an Evergreen League regular season dual this season, but the Spartans will host the first stage of the postseason — the Evergreen League Championship on Feb. 8.
